Effiel Tower - A meal in the Sky

No visit to Paris is complete without a visit the to Effiel Tower. We took it a step further and decided to have dinner at the Effiel tower too! Made plans with another couple who happen to be in Europe for holiday to meet at dine at 58 degrees, the restaurant on the 2nd floor of the tower (2nd floor is quite high up too)!! The queue to go up the tower is quite long, but as we had restaurant bookings, we could 'cut queue' and go straight up. The view from the restaurant is quite something – we could see the whole of Paris (almost from there). We had a 3 course dinner. Food is good and quite filling, equivalent to any normal upper class restaurant – guess at this restaurant, it’s the location rather then the food that attracts people.

 The View From the Restaurant

After dinner, we made our way around the viewing platform, and also bought tickets for the cable car to get to the next level above. However, view on the next level is pretty much the same as we are already so high up, much higher then any other building in France! As it is by the river, we can see boats in the river too.

For about 10-15 minutes every hour, the little lights place all around the Effiel Tower lights up and blinks, making it one of the most beautiful man-made spectacle, a tall sparkling tower against the black backdrop of the night sky. Being in the tower, it doesn't make too much of a difference, however, if you're not in the tower, its an awesome sight. This view can be seen many, many, many miles away…
