Swiss Alps - Mount Pilatus - Pt 1

Never actually thought I will be here, standing on a mountain that is part of the Swiss Alp  (Mount Pilatus) and looking over all the other mountain tops of the Swiss Alps… although its summer, we can see snow on some of the mountain tops. We can also see cloud below us…so yes, we re higher then even clouds!!!

To get here from Luzern is an interesting trip. We had to take an one and a half hour boat ride from Luzern to the botton of Mt Pilatus.....this was one of the most scenic boat trip we have taken (similar to NZ)......waters were clear blue, the fresh was so fresh and the skies were at its best blue. Those who have houses on this river bank are soo lucky (except for the getting around bit.....).

 

 

After the boat trip we then took a cogwheel railway train up to the peak. This train is apparently the steepest in the world, and the journey is half an hour….along the way, we pass many beautiful sights of very pine tress, breathtaking view of the view below ( of the lake and city below),  houses that are situated on the mountain, hikers hiking up the mountain (goodness know how long it takes them!!!) and my favourite sight, cows grazing on the steep hills of the mountain. The cows in Switzerland really do wear big bells!!! As we pass them, we can hear “Cling Cling Clin gCling”…of the bells ringing, Wow, very cute….think the bells are there so that if and when a cow is lost, the owner can always find it by following the bells..
