Brugge is about an hour's train ride from Brussel. I really liked the local train ride from Brussels to Brugge. Its a much newer train as compared to the Eurostar and I somehow feel like being in a movie - perhaps it reminded me of a scene from The Tourist.
When we first arrived at the train station in Brugge, we had to walk towards the tall steeples of the church to get to the centre of town. The streets were pretty quiet then, but still very nice and I thought this is it - Brugge, cozy, quiet little town.However, when we got closer to the town centre, it started to get buzier and buzier, and at some parts, almost as buzy as London with shops on both sides of the road, and tourists everywhere! However, I must say that Brugge is a very lovely little town (regardless of it being quiet or buzy) with cobbled streets, cute little houses, a horse drawn carriage passing us once a while, and a canal going around the town. The town is also known as the 'Little Venice of the North'.
A visit to the Our Lady Church is worth it - free entry :). It's one of the tallest building in the town with its tall steeple - typical European church, which is very stunning on the inside.
We also visited the Holy Balistica, where apparently they hold the holy blood of christ inside, ....we did see and touch the glass container containing the piece of wood (part of the cross I assume) with the holy blood. There's a line of ppl queing up to do that too.
The last place we visited before heading back to the train station is the music hall which is a bright red building. There are also some funny statues at the front of the building which we had a fun time taking pictures with.
