Being surrounded by water, Venice is also well known as a fishing village. We visited the local fish market, which provides seafood to all the local restaurants. The seafood there is really big and fresh, and T's mum seriously considered buying some fresh seafood and carrying it back to London on the plane with us. Hahaha...Just as well that we didn't stay in a service apartment else the mums will be busy cooking instead of sightseeing.
I love getting lost. Its when you find the most amazing things, especially when you wander off the usual tourist route. We stumbled upon a little pizzeria in a truly local area, filled with the local Venice people. The pizzas there - YUMMY - and so is the environment. :)
We had several memorable meals in Venice.....
And one not so memorable one when our black squid ink risotto was way too salty (and the restaurant did not want to cook a new dish for us again or exclude the cost of the rice from our bill)....do not go to RIALTO NOVO everyone!!!
Our last night meal in a Venetian restaurant was one of the most memorable during our whole Italy trip......we happen to be part of a small group of friends celebrating the end of the year and though we could not understand most of the music (as it was in Italian), we were enthralled by the atmosphere! Our faith in Venetians was restored and we could see that the true Italians were just there to have fun and not try and make money off tourists.
